Half an hour from Villa Sereia, the fishing town Portimão celebrates its annual Sardine Festival.
If you are lucky enough to be in the Algarve the first week of August, for 5 nights the best of the Algarve gastronomy joins once again. Between August 1st and August 5th, visitors are offered to enter various restaurants and, at the same time, there will be entertainment, specially with the local and, others, nationally and even internationally renowned, musicians.
The restaurants along the waterfront are playing host to the celebration. Fresh sardines are lined up one after another on grills. Artisans produce and sell traditional Portuguese curiosities. Traditional desserts are also available to tempt your taste buds.
Headline entertainment is scheduled every night at 22:00 on the main stage. There are several parking lots through the city and close to the festival. The main festival area is on the waterfront between the museum and the “between bridges” area.
